‘COPS’ to film Boise police

Associated Press The Spokesman-Review

BOISE – Producers of the Fox television show “COPS” are teaming up with patrol officers in Boise for the next eight weeks to film upcoming episodes of the show that features real-life arrests and other police activity.

Police Chief Mike Masterson confirmed TV crews began filming officers Tuesday and will remain in the city for the next two months.

The show’s producers first asked to film the Boise Police Department earlier this year. Police officials said the show will give the public a unique look into how officers deal with the routine calls not often addressed in the local media, Masterson said.

“We think we have a very professional and effective police department here, and this will let the rest of the country see that,” police spokeswoman Lynn Hightower said.

Masterson said he has talked with officials in other cities that have hosted the show, and the “experiences have been generally good for both department and communities.”
