Church plans Vacation Bible School

The calendar may be in the beginning in June, but Valley churches are already making plans for Vacation Bible School sessions. The programs are typically held for half days for four or five days. They can be great ways to keep kids busy during the summer and also provide some Bible study during the months when Sunday school may not be offered.

Spokane Valley United Methodist Church will host its session for younger children – ages 3 through entering kindergarten – June 19 to 23. The theme will be “Adventure of the Treasure Seekers: Exploring God’s Promises.” Hours will be from 9 to 11:30 a.m. each day. The cost is $20 per child.

A session for older students – through the sixth grade – is planned for Aug. 21-25. Call the church at 924-7262 to register or for more information. The church is at 115 N. Raymond Road.

Sundae Sunday

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church will close out Sunday school classes with a bang. A celebration after the 9:30 a.m. service on Sunday will include ice cream sundaes, games, a bake sale and a ministry fair. The church is at 810 S. Sullivan Road. Sunday school classes will resume in the fall.

Concert fundraiser

The Spokane Valley Nazarene Church, 15515 E. 20th Ave., will host a concert with the band One Way Ticket at 6 p.m. Sunday. Band member and nurse Judy Bost is raising funds for a medical mission trip to the Massai tribe in Kenya this summer. Admission is by donation.

Summer worship schedule

Opportunity Christian Church, 708 N. Pines Road, will switch to its summer worship schedule on Sunday. Worship will now begin at 10 a.m. each Sunday, with Sunday school at 9 a.m. Call the church at 926-3691 for more information.

Rummage sale

Christ Lutheran Church will hold a rummage sale today from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the church, 13009 E. Broadway Ave.
