Angels 6, Devil Rays 2: At St. Petersburg, Fla., Mike Napoli and Kendry Morales homered to back the pitching of rookie Jered Weaver, leading Los Angeles to a victory over Tampa Bay.

Indians 11, Athletics 2: At Cleveland, Paul Byrd won for the first time in more than a month, Victor Martinez had four runs batted in and Aaron Boone hit a three-run homer, sending the Indians to a win over Oakland.

White Sox 4, Tigers 3: At Chicago, Alex Cintron hit a tie-breaking RBI single in the seventh inning to lift the White Sox to a victory over Detroit. Tigers outfielder Craig Monroe left the game with a sprained ankle in the third inning.

Blue Jays 5, Orioles 3: At Baltimore, Casey Janssen allowed one run in six innings to earn his fourth consecutive win, Vernon Wells had four hits, and Toronto beat Kris Benson and the Orioles.

Rangers 4, Royals 2: At Kansas City, Mo., Gary Matthews’ two-run double capped a four-run ninth inning and lifted Texas to a victory over the Royals.

Red Sox at Yankees, ppd., rain: The scheduled game between Boston and New York was postponed because of rain. No makeup date was announced, although the game will likely be rescheduled as part of a doubleheader during Boston’s final trip to Yankee Stadium from Sept. 15-17.
