Heritage Singers

The California-based Heritage Singers are performing at two local churches next week.

First Church of the Nazarene, 9004 N. Country Homes Blvd., is hosting the group on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

The group also will perform Thursday at 7 p.m. at Linwood Seventh-day Adventist Church, 6525 N. Monroe St.

The Heritage Singers have been touring and recording since 1971, and more than 200 singers have been in the group before moving on into ministry.

Admission to both concerts is free.

Youth choirs

•The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1620 E. 29th Ave., is hosting the Utah Valley Children’s Choir on Friday at 7 p.m.

The 170-member choir, composed of youths ages 9 through 19, is touring Oregon, Washington and British Columbia. It will perform sacred music that will include narration of the message, “God loves all of his children.”

•Westminster Congregational United Church of Christ, 411 S. Washington St., is hosting the Land of Lakes Choirboys from Elk River, Minn., next Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

The group will perform both secular and sacred music.

Organ concert

The Episcopal Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, 127 E. 12th Ave., is presenting an organ and choral concert Sunday at 4 p.m.

The program will include an organ concerto by Bach and choral arrangements of favorite hymns. The Rev. Daniel Werning and his wife, Terry, wrote the arrangements and will perform.

The Gothic-style cathedral will be open for tours from 1 to 4 p.m.

The Church of Berachah, 2 W. Third Ave., is celebrating three years of ministry with a prayer block party today from 2 to 7 p.m.

Golf fundraiser

St. Patrick Roman Catholic School is presenting a Father’s Day Classic Golf Tournament next Saturday to raise funds for the school.

The tournament begins at 7 a.m. at Downriver Golf Course, 3225 N. Columbia Circle, with a shotgun scramble.

The cost is $75 per person, which includes lunch.

Day camp

Peace Village is holding a summer day camp for children ages 8 through 13 from June 19 through 23 at Community Congregational United Church of Christ, 525 N.E. Campus St., Pullman.

Peace Village is an interfaith multicultural group that will teach the kids yoga, meditation, nonviolent communication, games, creative arts, ecology and media awareness.

The cost is $50 for the week. Scholarships are available.

Orthodox Pentecost

Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 1703 N. Washington St., is presenting its 11th annual Pentecost Missions Celebration on Sunday.

Kneeling vespers will begin at 5 p.m., and there will be a Pentecost dinner at 6 p.m. The featured speaker will be Presvytera Renee Ritsi of the Orthodox Christian Mission Center in St. Augustine, Fla.

Preservation project

Spokane Preservation Advocates will paint and do yard maintenance today from 9 a.m. to noon at St. Matthews Church, 630 S. Arthur St.

Volunteers should wear work and painting clothes and bring yard tools, paintbrushes, work gloves, small plastic containers and paint rags.

Plymouth Congregational Church, 1502 W. Eighth Ave., is offering a four-week series of discussions that will cover many of the issues in the book “The Da Vinci Code” by Dan Brown.
