Nutrition program provides summer meals for children

This summer, three Spokane Valley school districts, the Spokane Valley Parks and Recreation Department and the YMCA are offering free meals for anyone 18 and younger who might otherwise go hungry.

This federally funded child-nutrition program was created to ensure that children in low-income neighborhoods would continue to receive healthy meals over the summer.

Children may eat every day or any day they choose and no registration is necessary. Meals must be eaten at the site and finished within 15 minutes of the final serving time.

Sites offered by the YMCA and Parks and Recreation are available to all children and don’t require that a child be part of a program.
