Ford drives Shock to victory

Cheryl Ford had a career-high 24 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Detroit Shock to their third straight win, 86-74 over the Charlotte Sting in WNBA play on Thursday in Charlotte, N.C.

Katie Smith added 16 points and Deanna Nolan had 14 for the Shock.

Sun 79, Lynx 62: At Uncasville, Conn., Lindsay Whalen and Margo Dydek scored 16 points each to lead Connecticut past Minnesota.

Nicole Ohlde led the Lynx with 16 points and seven rebounds.
