Ford, Nolan come up big as Shock down Mystics for fourth straight victory

Cheryl Ford and Deanna Nolan combined for 16 points in a fourth-quarter surge as the Detroit Shock beat the Washington Mystics 92-86 Saturday.

Detroit has won four straight overall and is 5-0 at home this season. Washington, which shot 50 percent in the first half, has lost two in a row.

Swin Cash had 19 points, and Nolan and Ford finished with 18 apiece in a game that saw 11 players, including every starter, score in double figures.

Katie Smith had 17 points and a career-high nine assists to help Detroit reach a season high in points.

Alana Beard led Washington with 20 points, including a four-point play in the last minute, and Nikki Teasley added 16.

Liberty 93, Lynx 83: At Minneapolis, Barbara Farris scored a career-high 20 points and Shameka Christon added 19 to lead New York to a victory over Minnesota and its first two-game winning streak of the season.

Becky Hammon scored 16 points, and Kelly Schumacher and Sherill Baker each had 13.

Seimone Augustus had 29 to lead the Lynx, who have lost four of their last five.
