Raiders, Scots win at state
Lachelle Ives and Amanda Marchand each scored 14 points to lead sixth-ranked Lake Roosevelt to a 58-43 win over Columbia (Burbank) in the first round of the Washington State 1A girls basketball tournament Wednesday at Yakima.
Ives scored 10 of her points in the first half as the Raiders (20-3) built a 32-25 halftime lead. Marchand had eight of her points in the second half, including six during the Raiders’ 17-8 scoring run in the third quarter.
Columbia’s Lauren Rada led all scorers with 18 points on 7-of-18 shooting, but she was held to six points in the second half. Rada and Rebecca Staley each added eight rebounds.
Freeman 47, Bush 19: Jessie DePell scored 19 points to lead Freeman over Bush.
DePell scored 10 of her team’s first 15 points as second-ranked Freeman (20-3) bolted to an 18-5 lead after the first period. She was the only player to reach double figures in scoring and had four rebounds.
Freeman advanced to the second round today against Bellevue Christian (21-1).
