Area churches plan Lenten services

Several Valley churches are planning events to mark the season of Lent, the 40 days before Easter.

• Good Shepherd Lutheran Church will host a series of soup suppers each Wednesday during Lent. Those attending the 6 p.m. meals are asked to bring soup to share. Bread and beverages will be provided. A service will follow at 7 each week.

The church is located at 810 S. Sullivan Road. Call the church at 926-8611 for more information.

• A weekly class titled “When I Survey the Wondrous Cross” will begin on Wednesday at Millwood Presbyterian Church, 3223 N. Marguerite Road. The class will begin each Wednesday during Lent at 7 p.m. with a dinner preceding it at 6:15 Call the church at 924-2350 for more information.

• Zion Lutheran Church will host a worship service at 7:10 p.m. each Wednesday during Lent. Each service will be preceded by a soup supper at 6:30. The church is at 8304 E. Buckeye Ave. Call 926-5407 for more information.

• Christ Lutheran Church, 13009 E. Broadway Ave., will host a soup supper at 6 p.m. each Wednesday during Lent, followed by a worship service at 7.

• Peace Lutheran Church will host a soup supper at 6 p.m. each Wednesday during Lent. A Taize worship service will follow at 7:15. The church is at 4124 N. Harvard Road.
