Beavers end Cougars’ year
Anita Rivera scored 17 of her career-high 27 points in the first half to lead Oregon State past Washington State 77-38 on Friday in a Pac-10 Conference tournament play-in game in San Jose, Calif.
Casey Nash added 16 points, 15 in the second half, and Mandy Close scored 14 for the Beavers (15-13). Kate Benz scored 10 points to lead Washington State (8-20), which lost seven of its last eight.
Oregon State will meet No. 11 Arizona State in today’s quarterfinals.
•Joy Hollingsworth scored 22 points, including four 3-pointers, to help Arizona (8-21) end a nine-game losing streak with a 64-57 victory over Oregon in a play-in game of the Pac-10 tournament in San Jose, Calif.
Eleanor Haring scored 20 points to lead Oregon (14-15).
Arizona will meet Stanford in today’s quarterfinals.
•Emily Faurholt scored 21 points to lead Idaho to a 72-59 win over Boise State in a Western Athletic Conference game in Moscow, Idaho.
Leilani Mitchell recorded 18 points and eight assists for the Vandals (9-18, 5-11). Rebecca Kepilino notched 15 points and nine rebounds for the Broncos (14-14, 6-10).
The Vandals connected on 10 of their 14 3-point attempts and held Boise State to just 2 of 12 from behind the arc.
The win keeps Idaho in the hunt for the seventh seed in next week’s WAC tournament.
