In support of Landers

The Spokesman-Review

Letter writers (Mike) Rineer and (Wesley) Snyder (on Feb. 26) lambasted Rich Landers for espousing his conservation views, accusing him of being a tree-hugging liberal pushing a political agenda on the sports pages. To them, anyone who is pro-environment is ipso facto anti-Bush. If anything created this divide, the present administration did with its insane pro-business-at-all-costs policies.

Rineer and Snyder inserted the ugliness of politics into the debate; Landers didn’t. If that’s what they want to do, I’ll be happy to oblige.

Guys, I suggest you get up to the McNeil River and Churchill, Manitoba, ASAP, to see the grizzlies and the polar bears, because if this administration has its way, those landscapes will soon be dotted with oil wells. And by the way, fellas, the opposite of a tree-hugger is a Bush-kisser, but, hey, to each his own.
