Prom can be a really sticky thing
If you are still looking for the perfect prom dress this spring, here is a chance to make one that fits, is creative and can earn you and your date each a $3,000 scholarship.
Henkel Consumer Adhesives is presenting the 2006 Duck Brand duct tape Stuck at Prom Scholarship Contest for teens who want to decorate their prom attire with duct tape.
There also will be awards for the best in different categories such as “Most Likely to be Seen from Space,” “Most Likely to be a Rock Star,” “Most Likely to have had Help from Mom” and more.
The contest starts today and runs through June 9. Entries can be submitted online at www.stuckatprom.com, or mailed to Stuck at Prom Contest, c/o Henkel Consumer Adhesives, Inc., 32150 Just Imagine Drive, Avon, OH 44011-1355.
Pictures from last year are available on the company’s Web site, along with the official rules.
If you enter, we’d love to see what duct-tape fashions Inland Northwest prom-goers come up with. While we have nothing to do with the contest, we’d like to show you off to our readers.
Send photos to Laura Crooks, c/o the Spokesman-Review, P.O. Box 2160, Spokane, WA 99210, or you can e-mail them to laurac@spokesman.com.
The SmallStep Challenge
Spiderman fans, listen up.
Kids ages 6 through 11 can try to win a visit to their school from Spiderman by entering a national contest that’s designed to get them thinking about healthy eating and exercising.
To enter, all they have to do is log on to www.smallstep.gov and answer trivia questions about healthy eating.
Because developing healthy eating and exercise habits isn’t always easy, the Advertising Council and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has created the contest and the Web site, which offers healthy eating tips and links to other sites such as the President’s Challenge Program.
The deadline to enter is March 30. Three winners will be chosen on March 31. Additional prizes will be awarded through April 30.
Agriculture scholarship available
Washington State high school seniors or students entering college for the first time who are interested in agriculture are eligible to win one of two $500 scholarships from the Master Gardener Foundation of Washington State.
You must be accepted by an accredited college or university, be sponsored by a Washington State Master Gardener Program and be enrolled in agriculture, food marketing, food packaging, horticulture, animal science or agriculture technical programs to enter.
Anyone interested can contact their high school guidance counselor for more information. The deadline to submit applications is May 1.
