Group cited for construction education

ESD 101’s Spokane Service Team has been honored for excellence in construction education for its contributions to the construction industry in Washington state by the Construction Center of Excellence at Renton Technical College.

The award category is “Innovators of 2006 K-12 Education.” The award was presented during a luncheon and awards ceremony March 2 at Renton Technical College.

The Spokane Service Team is an AmeriCorps service program for 18- to 25-year-olds in the construction and rehabilitation of housing for low-income residents as well as capital improvement projects for agencies serving low-income families.

Educational Service District 101 is a public entity created by the state of Washington to provide cooperative services to K-12 schools in seven Eastern Washington counties.

Spokane Christian Academy auction

Spokane Christian Academy’s sixth annual auction, “Spring Fling,” is Saturday at the academy, 8909 E. Bigelow Gulch Road.

Tickets are $10 or $70 for a table of eight. Call 924-4888 to purchase tickets.

A fun run begins at 4:30 p.m., followed by dinner and a live and silent auction.
