Public hearings scheduled on development proposals

The Spokesman-Review

Two public hearings are scheduled for today and another hearing is set for April 13 on a series of development proposals in the city of Spokane.

Today at 9 a.m., Hearing Examiner Greg Smith will take testimony on a proposed 21-acre residential development near Five Mile Road at Skyview Park. Flagstone Development of Spokane Valley has proposed building 86 homes on a new plat. The hearing will be held in the council briefing center in the lower level of City Hall.

At 12:30 p.m. today, Smith will hold another hearing on a conditional-use permit application to turn a single-family residence between 34th and 35th avenues on the west side of Grand Boulevard into an office for massage therapy. Property owners are Bruce and Patricia Schlaitzer of Spokane.

On April 13 at 9 a.m., Smith will hold a hearing in City Council Chambers on easing height limits for a proposed residential development on the north side of Riverside Avenue near Cedar Street. The property owners are Mick and Shelley McDowell. They are seeking to build 52 condominiums in a 17-story structure. The plans call for public amenities in exchange for a taller building.
