Benefit concert

The Interfaith Council is hosting a concert of music by Spokane composer Don Caron on Monday at 8 p.m. at The Met, 901 W. Sprague Ave., to support the council’s new Faith and Environment Network.

Soprano Ann Fennessy and the Spokane Youth Orchestra will perform a medley from Caron’s score for the 1999 movie “The Basket,” which was filmed and produced in Spokane.

The evening will also include a performance of “Disposable Dances,” written by Caron for an Earth Day concert in 1998 by Spokane’s former Zephyr modern music series.

Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for students and seniors, through TicketsWest outlets (325-SEAT, 800-325-SEAT, www.ticketswest.com).

Kosher dinner

Temple Beth Shalom, 1322 E. 30th Ave., is hosting its 65th annual Kosher Dinner Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Items on the menu include beef brisket, potato knishes, carrot tzimmes, spiced apples, apricot kuchen, challah bread and appetizers. Visitors will be treated to music from Chutzpah, the Mavens and the jazz group the Kosher Redhots.

Novena of Grace

St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 330 E. Boone Ave., is presenting its 79th annual Novena of Grace services today through March 19.

The Rev. Robert Fitts and Sister Celeste Crine will lead the nine-day prayer series in honor of St. Francis Xavier during three services daily at 12:15, 3:30 and 5:15 p.m. Sunday services will begin at 12:30 to allow for the normal Sunday liturgies.

The Sacrament of Reconciliation will be offered 45 minutes before each service. Anyone who wishes to receive the Sacrament of Anointing the Sick may do so during all of the services next Saturday.

Silent auction

First Presbyterian Church, 318 S. Cedar St., is presenting its annual Easter Project Auction today from 5 to 8 p.m.

This year’s auction, “March Madness for Missions,” will benefit a mission to Tijuana, Mexico, to build houses.

Items include baskets, restaurant meals, jewelry and crafts. Child care is available, and admission is free.

Lenten studies and prayer

St. Gregorios Syrian Orthodox Church of India, 2803 N. Lincoln St., is presenting a series of lectures on the history and faith of the Oriental Orthodox churches.

Christian Youth Theater, 708 W. Nora Ave., is presenting is production of “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” today and Friday through March 19.

St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, 4420 N. Jefferson St., is offering a lunch and card party Wednesday from noon to 3 p.m.
