Tim McGraw and Faith Hill met with the press in Nashville to talk about their upcoming tour, but ended up venting their frustration with Hurricane Katrina cleanup efforts.

Hill, who grew up in Jackson, Miss., and McGraw, a native of Delhi, La., have spent time in the devastated areas helping with relief efforts and raising money for victims.

When asked about the government’s slow progress, Hill said, “It’s wrong. It’s embarrassing. It really gets us fired up. That’s our homeland.”

McGraw criticized President Bush, who visited the devastated Lower Ninth Ward of New Orleans on Wednesday.

“There’s no reason why someone can’t go down there – who’s supposed to be the leader of the free world – and say, ‘I’m giving you a job to do and I’m not leaving here until it’s done. And you’re held accountable,’ ” he said.

Asked what their fans could do to help, McGraw replied: “Vote.”

David Hasselhoff‘s estranged wife has filed court documents claiming domestic violence by the former “Baywatch” star.

Actress Pamela Bach asked for a temporary restraining order against Haselhoff. A judge instructed them to stay away from each other.

Both Bach and Hasselhoff filed divorce papers in January following 16 years of marriage. Each has been granted custody of one of their teenage daughters.

Bending the truth

David Beckham and his wife, Victoria, have settled their libel case against a British tabloid that claimed the couple’s marriage was a sham.

The soccer star and the former Spice Girl sought damages against the News of the World over an article that carried the headline: “Posh and Becks on the Rocks.”

No settlement terms were disclosed.

Silver screen for Sasha?

Fresh from the Winter Olympics, where she took a silver medal, figure skater Sasha Cohen has taken a spin into the Hollywood arena.

The diminutive brunette served as a special correspondent for TV’s “Inside Edition” at the Academy Awards, and Ben Stiller approached her about a cameo role in his next project – a comedy focusing on figure skating.

“There are a lot of characters in skating,” Cohen admits.

Dancing queen

After a long break, John Travolta‘s got the music in him again.

Travolta, who played a disco dancer in 1977’s “Saturday Night Fever” and a bad-boy bopper in 1978’s “Grease,” will take on the role of Edna Turnblad in “Hairspray,” a film adaptation of the hit Broadway musical based on John Waters‘ 1988 dance-contest movie.

Harvey Fierstein won a Tony for donning drag to play Turnblad in the Broadway version.
