Track medical news with Health Beat

The Spokesman-Review

It’s difficult to keep track of the new medications and health products coming onto the market. One day, a new product is deemed practically a miracle for sufferers of this or that. Then, before we know it, we’re hearing all kinds of warnings about the product.

One way to get the latest about medical warnings is to check Health Beat, a blog on Spokesmanreview.com. Staff writer Heather Lalley posts health tidbits most days of the week. They range from the weird and wacky to simply helpful.

For example, a recent posting includes a link to WebMd.com, which is alerting people about the recall of Dove SkinVitalizer Facial Cleansing Massager, which reportedly has a potential defect that has left some users scratched.

An earlier posting highlights a warning about two prescription medicated creams that are used to treat eczema. According to the report, the Food and Drug Administration is now requiring that the medications carry the most stringent warnings because it has received nearly 80 reports of cancers in patients treated with the drugs.
