Hints from Heloise
Dear Readers: Have you bought` shoes early in the day that felt tight when you put them on later that day? There’s a reason. Experts say it’s better to shop for shoes late in the afternoon, because your feet are usually larger from water retention. Here are some hints to help keep your feet feeling fine:
• To relieve aching feet, sit on the edge of the tub and alternate running cold and hot water over your feet a couple of times. I even do this with my pantyhose on when I’m in a hotel and must zip between meetings. I towel-dry, then blast them with the hair dryer.
• To exercise tired footsies, roll them over a bottle, can or tennis ball and then massage with soothing lotion.
• If your leather shoes or boots get wet, don’t place them near heat or in direct sunlight to dry. Fill shoes or boots with newspapers or crumpled paper bags to help absorb moisture and to keep the shape. – Heloise
