Outdoor Pursuits plans backpacking trip

Community members are encouraged to spend spring break backpacking along the Olympic coast with North Idaho College’s Outdoor Pursuits March 26 through April 1.

Participants will spend the week exploring the coastline within Washington’s Olympic National Park. The group will navigate the wilderness environment using maps and tide charts to plot the route, and various species of wildlife are sure to be encountered along the way.

The trip coincides with NIC’s spring break, March 27-31.

Cost is $100, which covers transportation and campsite fees. Personal equipment and food is the responsibility of participants.

Equipment lists and itineraries will be distributed at the mandatory pre-trip meeting at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Outdoor Pursuits Office, in the lower level of NIC’s Edminster Student Union Building.

Anyone with moderate backpacking experience is encouraged to sign up.
