WSU football forecast
Bright Spots
Center Kenny Alfred, expected to challenge for the starting job, may not need surgery after all. The redshirt freshman broke his hand Friday, but the Cougars are opting to wait until Thursday to re-evaluate before deciding if Alfred will have the hand operated on to repair the break.
Still a little hazy
Fevaea’i Ahmu, on the other hand, did need surgery to repair his broken foot, and a recovery period of up to three months could significantly hamper his off-season work. Ahmu started all 11 games as a true freshman, and his development would give the Cougars a potent inside presence on defense.
