Lakeside culinary team a winner

Lakeside High School in Nine Mile Falls and Lewis and Clark High School took home awards from the ProStart culinary invitational held March 25 in Seattle.

Lakeside High School placed first in the case study portion of the competition. LC took second in the same competition. Lakeside also placed third in the overall competition, which tallied scores from cooking and knife skills, knowledge bowl and case study competitions.

The competition included more than 200 students from 25 high schools across the state who participate in ProStart culinary arts programs, overseen by the Washington Restaurant Association Education Foundation.

This year’s entrants competed for hundreds of thousands of dollars in scholarship opportunities to attend advanced culinary institutions across the state and throughout the nation.
