Note to Spurlock: Who’s sick now?
One of the most arresting scenes in his documentary film “Super Size Me” was of director Morgan Spurlock vomiting.
Seems Spurlock made some of the administrators sick at a suburban Philadelphia high school last week when he delivered what turned out to be a decidedly politically incorrect speech.
Here’s a short list of what Spurlock allegedly joked about: the intelligence of McDonald’s employees, teachers smoking pot and the “retarded kids in the back wearing helmets.”
After that final remark, which Spurlock said was meant as a reference to a character in the forthcoming film “Benchwarmers,” teachers led a number of special education students out of the room.
“It is never my intent to insult or demean anyone – and I understand how some of my remarks may have offended some in attendance, and if you feel they did, then I am deeply sorry,” Spurlock wrote in “A Letter of Explanation” posted Sunday on his blog.
Spurlock said his reference to teachers smoking pot was a joke meant to amuse students.
Life is lonely at Neverland
Attorneys for Michael Jackson and his ex-wife, Debbie Rowe, are in court again. A judge ordered Rowe to submit copies of her 2001 motion to terminate her parental rights to the two children she had with Jackson.
Jackson now lives in the Middle East kingdom of Bahrain, where he moved last year following his acquittal on child molestation charges. His ranch, Neverland, is now run by what is described as a “skeleton staff.”
Hey, Tori, what’s your story?
Shades of “Beverly Hills 90210.” Tori Spelling will do a caricature of herself – if that isn’t a redundancy – in an upcoming show on VH1 titled “so NoTORIous.”
Premiering Sunday, the show will feature Spelling, 32, portraying a “has-been” actress.
Another former star, Loni Anderson, will play Spelling’s on-screen mother, Kiki, while Spelling’s own pug, Mimi La Rue, plays herself.
‘Mr. Spears’ unveils his CD
Trying to prove that he’s more than simply the husband of pop star Britney Spears, hip-hop performer Kevin Federline has released his debut album, “Playing With Fire.”
If nothing else, K-Fed sure has an abundance of confidence.
“My album,” he said, “is sure to set the dance floors across the world on fire!”
Then again, it’s not that unusual
It’s not often that a coal miner’s son from Wales, especially one who hails from a town called Pontypridd, gets knighted.
But that’s what happened to Tom Jones on Wednesday.
“When you first come into show business and you get a hit record, it is the start of something,” the 65-year-old singer said. “As time goes on, it just gets better. This is the best thing that I have had.”
