Scout attains Eagle rank

Christopher Meyer was recently awarded the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest honor given in the Boy Scouts. Meyer, a member of Troop 201, is the son of John and Denise Reilly of Spokane and Barry and Debbie Meyer of Plains, Mont. For his project Meyer landscaped an area next to St. Charles Catholic School.

“ Valley Christian School senior Amanda Baker was given a President’s Volunteer Service certificate for volunteering more than 100 hours a year at various organizations.

“ Allison Babcock recently graduated from the University of Central Arkansas with a bachelor’s degree in speech and theater. Babcock, a 1990 graduate of Medical Lake High School, is the daughter of Mike and Helen Carr of Medical Lake.

“ Army Pvt. Amy Dolby recently graduated from basic training at Fort Jackson, S.C. Dolby is the daughter of Mike and Diana Dolby of Spokane.

“ The Spokane Chapter of the Washington State Professional Engineers Society recently announced several scholarship recipients. Each student was awarded a $3,500 Carl M. Hanson Foundation Engineering Scholarship.

The students are: Scott Brandon, Lewis and Clark High School; Christopher Durgan, Gonzaga Prep; Clint Thompson, homeschool/Running Start; Ryan Town, West Valley High School; Michelle Sybouts, Ferris High School; Chris Walker, The Oakes Academy.

Idaho

“ Andrea Schmitt of Coeur d’Alene was recently named the Best Oral Advocate by the American Constitution Society during the recent Constance Baker Motley National Moot Court competition. The competition featured 27 teams from 16 schools around the country. Schmitt, a graduate of Lake City High School and the University of Montana, is attending the University of Washington School of Law.

“ Benjamin Ferguson of Coeur d’Alene recently won the geography bee at Borah Elementary. He won the right to advance to the upcoming Idaho State Geography Bee in Boise.

“ Several North Idaho College students won awards during the recent Business Professionals of America competition in Boise. They won the right to advance to the upcoming national competition.

The award winners are: Chris Arnold of Post Falls, fifth place in Legal Office Procedures; Kelsey Bonds of St. Maries, first place in Administrative Support Team and Presentation Management, fifth in Desktop Publishing; Carmen Dawson of Coeur d’Alene, fourth place in Graphic Design Promotion and Prepared Speech, third in Web site Development Team; Stuart Henry of Coeur d’Alene, first place in Financial Analyst Team; Tim Hetzler of Spokane, first place in Financial Analyst Team and Administrative Report Research, fifth in Human Resource Management; Robert Hoss of Coeur d’Alene, first place in Financial Analyst Team and Interview Skills, third in Fundamental Accounting.

Velda Kuhn of Spirit Lake, first place in Administrative Support Team and fifth in Banking and Finance; Dawn Kushlan of Coeur d’Alene, fourth place in Graphic Design Promotion, third in Web site Development Team and fifth in Advanced Interview Skills; Danny Myers of Coeur d’Alene, first place in Computer Network Technology, second in CISCO Systems and third in Web site Development Team; Amanda Porter of Post Falls, first place in Administrative Support Team, second in Fundamental Accounting; Morgan Purvis of St. Maries, first place in Advanced Interview Skills and fourth in Extemporaneous Speech; Jenny Rollins of Kellogg, first place in Spreadsheets and Administrative Support Team.
