Zags set game with Nevada
RENO, Nev. – Nevada will play a men’s basketball game against Gonzaga next season at the Key Arena in Seattle on Dec. 30, a newspaper reported Tuesday.
It will be the first time the two schools have played a regular-season game since Dec. 1, 1994, when the Bulldogs won at home 90-75. The Wolf Pack beat Gonzaga 91-72 in the second round of the NCAA tournament in 2004.
The Reno Gazette-Journal reported the scheduling of next season’s game on its Web site Tuesday afternoon. Rhonda Lundin, a spokeswoman for the university athletic department, said she could not immediately confirm that the contract had been finalized.
Gonzaga was 29-4 and won the West Coast Conference title last season for the sixth time in the last seven years. The Bulldogs finished the season ranked fifth in the Associated Press Top 25 and advanced to the round of 16 in the NCAA tournament.
Nevada, two-time defending champions of the Western Athletic Conference, has won 20 or more games and played in the NCAA tournament the last three seasons, including a 27-6 record last season.
