Trentwood SCOPE – Volunteers discussed making sure they have enough cookies for the Sprague rest stop fundraiser in August. They plan to have 35 dozen cookies, pretzels and Rice Krispies Treats. (Source: President Jan Eastman)
Fairfield City Council – The water tank project has been completed. Council members decided to plant a blue spruce in front of the community center as party of the Flag Day celebration. They discussed whether to enact a sewer rate increase or a utility tax. No decision was made. Council members also voted to continue the summer swim program that buses children from Fairfield and neighboring small towns to the Tekoa pool. The program will run July 5-Aug. 5. Fire District 8 – The chief gave a presentation on district business. Commissioner Ken Kessler announced that he was resigning in July. He was a firefighter before serving as a commissioner with the district for the last 23 years. (Source: Deputy Chief Dan Blystone)
