“Lewis & Clark and the Forgotten Trail,” a documentary special co-produced by three Eastern Washington public television stations, makes its debut tonight.

The half-hour show takes a new look at the Corps of Discovery’s historic journey through the Northwest, focusing on the return trip in the spring of 1806 – specifically, the shortcut the explorers took from the Columbia River to the confluence of the Snake and Clearwater rivers near present-day Lewiston and Clarkston.

Produced by Hans Rosenwinkel, the documentary is a joint effort of KWSU in Pullman, KTNW in the Tri-Cities and KSPS in Spokane.

It premieres tonight at 9 on KWSU (cable channel 18 in Spokane), and repeats on that station Thursday at 10:30 p.m., Saturday at 7 p.m. and next Sunday at 11 p.m.

It will air on KSPS-7 on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. and next Sunday at 3:30 p.m.
