Woodward Field, Cheney, Thursday at 3:45 p.m., Friday and Saturday at 9:15 a.m.

Pullman should be in quite a battle for 2A team titles. The defending champion Greyhound girls are favorites with 15 entries in 12 events, including Lindsay Myron, the 2A leader in 100 hurdles and triple jump, and shot put leader Anna Albrecht. Lakeside, which finished second, should be in the hunt with nine events covered, including four pole vaulters, topped by 2A leader Ali Forsyth. The top contenders for boys are defending champion King’s, fourth-place Cashmere and possibly Lakeside (10 events covered) and Lakewood.

Newport and Freeman probably don’t have the depth to duplicate last year’s 1-2 finish in the 1A boys standings, where Zillah, Goldendale, Charles Wright and Coupeville are favorites. Defending champ Seattle Academy is again a contender for the girls title with runner-up Bellevue Christian, Cedar Park Christian and Charles Wright. Alex Crabill of Charles Wright is leading the state, all classes, in the 3,200 and is third in the 1,600.

Anything can happen in the B’s, but Tacoma Baptist, runner-up for the boys and champion for the girls, will be in the hunt for both titles. Mt. Vernon Christian should also contend for both titles. Odessa’s boys probably have the best chance to contend among the area teams.
