Hints from Heloise
Dear Heloise: Recently, my phone rang. When I answered, a recording was “blathering” rapidly. My husband had an appointment in two days at a medical facility in a city 50 miles from here. The message went on and on – with where to find the facility, where in the facility to go, who the doctor was and what records to bring, and to come earlier to get the paperwork done. All of this was just too much, too fast and not loud enough for my hearing aids. It was a recorded message, so I couldn’t tell anyone to wait for my husband to answer the phone.
What if a child had answered the phone? What happens to these recorded messages? Does anyone sending them know what’s happening to them?
Please advise your readers to request that any information be mailed prior to the appointment.
