TEMPE, Ariz. – Briann January (Lewis and Clark High School) scored 14 points and had four steals to lead No. 13 Arizona State past No. 18 New Mexico 67-49 Sunday.

The Sun Devils (2-0) used an 11-0 run in the first three minutes of the second half to pull away.

Brandi Kimble had 14 points and Julie Briody added 12 for the Lobos (1-1).

The Sun Devils forced 26 turnovers and converted them into 19 points.

Arizona State also held New Mexico leading scorer Dionne Marsh to eight points.

Emily Westerberg (Central Valley) scored 12 points, all in the second half, for Arizona State.
