Mini theater sets displayed in Molstead Library

The Spokesman-Review

Miniature theater set designs and costumes for various Coeur d’Alene Summer Theatre productions will be on display through November in North Idaho College’s Molstead Library.

The set designs are miniature models created by Michael McGiveney that the full-size stage design is based upon. Sets include Aunt Eller’s farm and a bunk house from “Oklahoma,” a New York City neighborhood from “West Side Story” and Miss Hannigan’s Home for Orphans and Oliver Warbuck’s mansion from “Annie.”

Also on display are costume designs from costumer Judith McGiveney from the Coeur d’Alene Summer Theatre production of “The King and I.” Costumes include Tuptim’s headdress and presentation gown, headdresses of the royal dancers and the official jacket of the Kralahome.

The sets and costumes are on display in the library courtesy of Coeur d’Alene Summer Theatre, which is celebrating its 40th year in the community.

The items will be coupled with books, DVDs and videos on theater and stage production available for checkout in the NIC Molstead Library.

Library hours are 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fridays, noon to 4 p.m. Saturdays and 1 to 8 p.m. Sundays. The library will be closed this Wednesday through Friday for the Thanksgiving holiday.

NIC’s Molstead Library is free and open to community members.
