Twins 5, White Sox 1: At Minneapolis, Minnesota took home another Central championship and Joe Mauer became the first catcher to win an A.L. batting title by getting two hits in the victory over Chicago.

Royals 10, Tigers 8 (12): At Detroit, Esteban German’s RBI single and Emil Brown’s bases-loaded walk in the 12th inning won it for Kansas City. Needing one more victory to clinch the division, the Tigers lost their final five games of the season and ended up with the wild card.

Red Sox 9, Orioles 0: At Boston, Devern Hansack pitched no-hit ball for five innings before the game was called because of rain, giving Boston a win over Baltimore – but not giving Boston’s rookie official credit for a no-hitter.

Athletics 11, Angels 10 (10): At Anaheim, Calif., Brendan Donnelly’s throwing error enabled Jeremy Brown to score the go-ahead run in the 10th inning, and Oakland beat Los Angeles to avoid being swept in a season-ending four-game series.

Blue Jays 7, Yankees 5: At New York, with the game tied 5-5 in the ninth, Adam Lind hit a two-run, two-out homer off Kyle Farnsworth to give Toronto the win.

Indians 6, Devil Rays 3: At Cleveland, Cliff Lee had his first nine-inning complete game and Cleveland capped an unfulfilling season with a victory over Tampa Bay, completing a four-game sweep.
