Volunteers needed to fill citizen boards

The Spokesman-Review

Spokane County officials are asking for volunteers to fill numerous empty seats on citizen boards.

The open positions include:

No Shooting Advisory Board

Openings: Four

Requirements: Two of the positions are for residents in the county commissioner district held by Todd Mielke (in northern Spokane County) and the other two are for residents in Mark Richard’s district in southeastern Spokane County.

Duties: The board reviews citizen requests to prohibit shooting in certain parts of the county. It meets only as needed.

Joint City-County Construction Review Board

Openings: Six

Requirements: The city and county each appoint one architect or engineer and two representatives from the construction industry.

Duties: The board hears appeals of city and county building official decisions regarding building codes.

Boundary Review Board for Spokane County

Openings: Two

Requirements: Must not be a government employee in Spokane County.

Duties: Meets monthly to decide annexation, incorporation and other issues.

Spokane County Library District Board of Trustees

Openings: One

Requirements: Must live in the library district. Candidate will interview with the library board, which recommends its choice to county commissioners. Applications are available at www.scld.org.

Duties: Five-member board meets monthly to decide district issues.
