Grossman effort one for history

So, Bears fans, is Rex Grossman still your Super Bowl quarterback?

Not surprisingly Tuesday, that issue dominated discussions among people in Chicago still trying to digest how the Arizona Cardinals forced Grossman into six turnovers yet still let the Bears slip out of the desert with a 24-23 victory.

For the first time all season, the NFL’s only 6-0 team won despite Grossman and not because of him.

He was historically bad, completing 14 of 37 passes for 148 yards with four interceptions while being outplayed by rookie Matt Leinart. The Bears had the ball eight times in the first half and all those series were either three-and-outs (four) or Grossman turnovers (four).

According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Grossman’s passer rating of 10.7 was the lowest for a winning quarterback since Cowboys quarterback Drew Henson posted a 7.6 against the Bears on Thanksgiving Day 2004.

Wizards shut down Morrison

Charlotte Bobcats rookie Adam Morrison had a pair of forgettable games against the Washington Wizards in preseason play Monday and Tuesday.

The former Gonzaga University star made just 2 of 7 shots and finished with seven points in a 100-91 loss on Monday in Charlotte, N.C.

Morrison struggled even more Tuesday – making just 2 of 11 shots for four points – in a 100-84 loss in Chapel Hill, N.C.

Idaho vs. Miami? It’s being floated

ESPN.com offered up its bowl projections and its experts see Idaho in the MPC Computers Bowl in Boise.

Ivan Maisel has the Vandals facing Miami – Erickson’s reunion tour resumes, much to his dismay – and Mark Schlabach sees Idaho against North Carolina State.

Both writers see Boise State facing Texas in the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl. Both have Hawaii facing Washington State in the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl and San Jose State against Wyoming in the inaugural New Mexico Bowl.
