Crow says Grant ad twists her words

The Spokesman-Review

State Rep. Dolores Crow is objecting to a TV commercial run by congressional candidate Larry Grant that she says wrongly suggests she’s supporting the Democrat for Congress.

“He’s wrong, and he’s deceiving the voters into thinking I’m going to vote for him,” said Crow, R-Nampa. “I think he needs to be called on it. … He just needs to not mislead the voters, for heaven’s sake.”

Crow doesn’t deny that she called Republican Rep. Bill Sali, Grant’s opponent, “an obstinate opportunist” during a tense April day at the Legislature. Sali had upset so many other legislators during an abortion debate that the House adjourned for the day, postponing the end of the legislative session.

“I’d say it again under the same circumstances,” Crow said. “We were all upset and tired and wanted to go home.” But Crow said she’ll vote for Sali for Congress.

Grant’s ad also quotes other prominent Republicans calling Sali “incompetent,” “deceitful” and “an absolute idiot,” and concludes, “So if you’re a Republican or independent and you want to vote for Larry Grant, you’re in good company.”

Grant campaign spokesman Don Rosebrock defended the ad. “You’ve got to make a huge leap to go from that to say that Dolores Crow is endorsing Larry Grant,” he said.

Hunter injured in crash recovering in hospital

A seriously injured Princeton, Idaho, hunter who spent a night in the woods was in satisfactory condition Wednesday night at Deaconess Medical Center.

A helicopter crew from Fairchild Air Force Base found 55-year-old Marjorie Lienhard shortly after 1 p.m. Wednesday in the wreckage of her four-wheel all-terrain vehicle in the Harvard area, about 20 miles northeast of Moscow. Air Force medics treated her as she was flown to Spokane.

A Latah County sheriff’s spokeswoman said Lienhard was “severely” injured in the crash.

Authorities began searching for Lienhard when she was reported missing about 9:45 p.m. Tuesday. She had been expected to rendezvous with her husband between 4:30 and 5 p.m., and had last been seen about 1 p.m.
