Ahmu not expected to go

PULLMAN – Washington State University head coach Bill Doba said Thursday he doesn’t expect defensive tackle Feveae’i Ahmu to make the trip to Auburn with the team.

Ahmu has an early partial stress fracture in his left foot, an injury to the same bone he broke in the spring.

“A’i probably won’t go,” Doba said. “If it’s cracked all the way through, we lose him for the season. Right now, it’s just a hairline crack that’s not all the way across the bone. They just want to see how it goes and I doubt he’ll make the trip.”

Ahmu had won a starting job in fall camp, and in his absence junior Aaron Johnson, a two-year starter himself, will step back into that role again.

Vandals No. 2? Fans think so

“I know optimism is running rampant in Moscow these days with Dennis Erickson’s return and a visit to the WAC Web site this morning certainly confirms it,” writes staff writer Jim Meehan on his blog.

Meehan points readers to the WAC Web site and the poll that asks: “Who do you think will win this year’s football championship?”

Boise State is a clear winner, but the surprise No. 2 choice is Idaho.
