Spokane stumbles

BOISE – The Boise Hawks clinched at least a tie for the Northwest League East Division title Thursday night.

Much of the credit should go to the Spokane Indians.

Jacob Renshaw (1-2) pitched six shutout innings, allowing three hits and striking out five, as Boise wrapped up a three-game sweep at Memorial Stadium with a 9-0 victory – the same score as Wednesday’s win.

Boise (41-29) leads Tri-City by six games with six games left in the season – all against T-C. The Hawks finished 11-1 against Spokane this season, and outscored the Indians 27-4 during the final three-game series.

Spokane (22-48) has lost 19 of its last 22 games.

Boise’s Matt Camp hit his first home run of the season, a two-run shot for a 4-0 lead in the second. The advantage grew to 8-0 on Joshua Lansford’s RBI single in the fourth. Tyler Colvin added a solo homer in the eighth.

Spokane will play its final six games against the Yakima Bears, starting with tonight’s opener of a three-game homestand at Avista Stadium.
