Valley Assembly of God street fair will be Saturday

Just because school is starting doesn’t mean the fun is over. Valley Assembly of God Church will host its annual street fair Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. The free event is open to the community and families are encouraged to attend.

“It’s a painless way to kick off the school year,” said Family Life Pastor Ken Lester. “It’s grown bigger each year. This will be the biggest and best ever.”

The evening will include pony rides, inflatables, a karate demonstration, a fire engine and a bike safety rodeo. Everything is free, including the hot dogs, cotton candy, shaved ice and other treats. Everything will be in the parking lot, 15618 E. Broadway Ave. Call the church at 924-0466 for more information.

Preaching conference

Greenacres Baptist Church will host a Labor Day Bible conference beginning Sunday. Guest speakers include John Phillips, author and faculty member and lecturer with the Moody Bible Institute and Luther Rice Seminary, and the Rev. William Smith, evangelist and longtime Southern Baptist pastor.

They will speak at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. Sunday and at 7 p.m. Monday through Wednesday at the church, 18620 E. Sprague Ave. There is no admission charge and all are welcome. Call 924-3690 for more information.
