Pirates persevere

Whitworth broke a 1-1 tie in the 59th minute when Adam Loeffler took a Curtis Flournoy pass and scored from five yards out to give the Pirates a 2-1 win Tuesday at California Lutheran in Thousand Oaks, Calif. CL started out strong, taking a 1-0 lead in the sixth minute. Whitworth responded in the 23rd minute with a Chris Johnson score.
