9/11 reflections
Monday’s anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks has brought Spokane a speaker whose life was affected dramatically by the events of that day.
Rev. Daniel Matthews is the rector emeritus of the St. Paul Chapel of Trinity Church in New York City. The church stands 150 yards from ground zero, and for eight months after the attacks, it served as a refuge for recovery workers 24 hours a day.
Matthews will preach at the 8 and 10 a.m. services Sunday at the Episcopal Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, 127 E. 12th Ave. He also will speak at 9 a.m. about his experiences of Sept. 11 and share his reflections about the meaning of that day.
