Green recovering from severe concussion

Associated Press The Spokesman-Review

Kansas City quarterback Trent Green sustained a “very, very severe concussion” when his head was slammed into the ground by Cincinnati’s Robert Geathers in Kansas City on Sunday and will be hospitalized at least until today, Chiefs officials said.

He will be listed as questionable this week at Denver and Damon Huard is expected to start.

Green was going feet-first into a hook slide Sunday when Geathers’ right shoulder slammed Green’s chest and head and snapped the back of Green’s head violently to the turf.

Officials did not call a foul, explaining to the enraged Chiefs sideline that Geathers’ momentum had carried him into the player. League officials have reviewed the film but made no announcement about repercussions.

Robinson to Green Bay

The Green Bay Packers have agreed to terms with wide receiver Koren Robinson, who was recently cut by the Minnesota Vikings after being charged with drunken driving.

Originally selected by Seattle with the ninth overall pick in the first round of the 2001 draft, Robinson played four years with the Seahawks before signing with Minnesota before the 2005 season.

Parcells defends Bledsoe

Bill Parcells defended quarterback Drew Bledsoe, insisting that plenty of others were to blame for the Cowboys’ 24-17 loss to the Jaguars. He said Bledsoe will definitely start Sunday night against the Washington Redskins and that calls for him to turn to backup Tony Romo are premature.
