Pirates 6-1, Brewers 3-2: At Pittsburgh, Ben Sheets took a perfect-game bid into the seventh inning, and Milwaukee beat the Pirates to split a doubleheader. In the opener, Freddy Sanchez got three hits and Ian Snell struck out 10 for Pittsburgh.

Astros 5, Cardinals 1: At St. Louis, Roy Oswalt pitched shutout ball into the ninth inning, helping Houston beat the Cardinals.

Phillies 7-6, Braves 2-5: At Atlanta, Carlos Ruiz and Jimmy Rollins hit two-run homers to give Philadelphia a doubleheader sweep over the Braves. In the opener, Matt Diaz’s eighth-inning error allowed two runs to score as the Phillies rallied from an early five-run deficit.

Diamondbacks 4, Nationals 2: At Phoenix, Livan Hernandez pitched shutout ball for seven innings to help Arizona beat Washington.

Mets 7, Marlins 4 (11): At Miami, Ricky Ledee came across on a throwing error in the 11th as New York beat Florida.

Padres 10, Reds 0: At Cincinnati, Mike Piazza hit a three-run homer as San Diego beat the Reds.

Dodgers 6, Cubs 0: At Chicago, Brad Penny won his league-leading 16th to help Los Angeles beat the Cubs.

Rockies 9, Giants 8: At San Francisco, Barry Bonds hit his 732nd career home run in the ninth, but Colorado topped the Giants.
