•Rev. Jan Linn, the author of “Big Christianity: What is Right With the Christian Left,” will make a series of appearances Monday and Tuesday in Spokane.
Linn is the co-pastor of the Spirit of Joy Christian Church in Lakeville, Minn.

Robynne Sapp and Dotti Berry have been traveling the country for more than a year to make connections with those who are struggling with their understanding of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered people.

Classes and workshops
•The Coeur d’Alene Worship Center, 1921 N. Fifth Ave., Coeur d’Alene, is presenting a seminar on the creation and evolution debate. Steve Grohman, a creationist, will lead the discussion and display his collection of more than 250 fossils.
Discussions will be Sunday at 10 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., and Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at 7 p.m.

On Thursday from 1 to 3 p.m., a financial expert from Group Northwest will speak about long-term care insurance. The next workshop, Sept. 28, will feature elder law specialists Richard and Karen Sayre.

•Unity Church of Truth, 2900 S. Bernard St., is presenting a “Sounds for the Soul Music Concert and Workshop” today.
The workshop, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., will include music from various cultures including Native American, Hindi and Islamic. It will be led by Mark Stanton Welch, who also will perform a concert at 7 p.m.

Centennial celebration
