Fungi fest at Priest Lake

Guided gathering walks, lectures by experts and a delicious dinner are on the agenda for fungi fanatics during the Spokane Mushroom Club’s annual Priest Lake Foray, Sept. 22-24 at Hill’s Resort.

The Priest Lake area is distinguished for harboring more than 450 mushroom species, all documented by the shroomers who have come to this event for decades. Samples are displayed and identified by experts.

Cost: $50, includes all the activities and a delicious dinner.

Bike with Lions

What: Chewelah Valley Lions Club Fall Bike Tour

When: Oct. 8, starting at 10 a.m.

Where: Meet at Chewelah City Park, ride to Springdale and Waitts Lake before looping back to Chewelah.

Details: Chose from 25- or 50-mile paved loops with food stops. Cost: $25 or $15 without a shirt.

Preregister by Sept. 25 to be guaranteed a T-shirt. Forms available at North Division Bicycle Shop, 10503 N. Division.

Climbing film fest

Reel Rock Tour, an international climbing film event touring the USA, is coming to The Met on Sept. 22, starting at 8 p.m.

The films include Dosage Volume IV, by Josh Lowell, which follows the biggest names in sport climbing, trad climbing, and bouldering as they make historic ascents at spectacular locations, and First Ascent, by Peter Mortimer, a globe-trotting journey to capture the hopes, fears and radical feats of men and women on climbing’s cutting edge.
