SNAP to host informational breakfast

Join Spokane Neighborhood Action Programs on Thursday morning for its second annual community breakfast.

From 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. at the Red Lion Hotel at the Park, 303 W. North River Drive, SNAP will host the “40 Years of Caring” breakfast, open to the public.

The purpose is to share information regarding SNAP programs, which include help in buying a home, energy assistance, home weatherization and economic development.

SNAP’s major sponsors will pay for the breakfast, and all proceeds will benefit the agency’s 30-plus programs.

Golf for Cancer Care

On Friday, take part in the Cancer Care Northwest Foundation Golf Classic at Indian Canyon Golf Course.

Registration is at 10:30 a.m., and tee-off begins at noon with a shotgun start. The cost is $100 per person, which includes greens fees, cart and dinner.

Cancer Care Northwest Foundation’s goal is to raise enough money to send the children of cancer patients to Camp Reed.

Kingdom Kids auction

Beginning at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 29, Kingdom Kids Adoption Ministries will host an auction and fundraiser at Faith Bible Church, 600 W. Cora Ave.

The event will include a dessert bar with more than 30 choices, a diamond raffle and silent and live auctions.

Tickets are $10 and must be purchased by Friday. Raffle tickets also are $10.

Friend to Friend run/walk

Help out Friend to Friend of Spokane County by taking part in the group’s 5K fun run/walk on Saturday.

The run/walk will begin at 10 a.m. at Avista Utilities, 1411 E. Mission Ave.

Cost is $10 with a T-shirt, $5 without. All proceeds will benefit Friend to Friend of Spokane County, a nonprofit organization that recruits volunteers to provide companionship to residents of long-term care facilities.

Walk for Kids ‘n Cancer

On Saturday, walk for kids in the second annual Connie Prekeges Foundation 5K Walk for Kids ‘n Cancer.

The event starts at 9:30 a.m. at the Monroe Street Bridge Antique Market, 604 N. Monroe St.

Proceeds will allow kids with cancer and their families to spend a week for free at either Camp Goodtimes East in Post Falls or Camp Agape outside Seattle. Money also will be donated to a new college scholarship program with the American Cancer Society’s Spokane Chapter.

Tincan flower benefit

Until Sept. 28, Tincan Teens are selling spring flower bulbs to raise money for after-school programs.

The bulbs from Dutch Gardens will be delivered in early October, just in time for planting. For descriptions and order forms, visit www.tincan.org and click on “flower fundraiser.”

Tincan is a nonprofit organization that teaches teenagers how to use computer technology for community projects.
