Welcome Home!
Have you ever fallen in love with a place? I have. A number of times.
Looking back, the wide window seat in my childhood bedroom, the place I spent so many contented hours reading my favorite books, comes to mind. We followed the real estate agent into the room, I saw that window seat for the first time, and I claimed it. It was meant for me.
Years later I drove by a little Cape Cod cottage perched up on the high side of the street, with a curving flight of stone steps leading down to the sidewalk, and I was smitten. I was meant for that house. I called the number on the sign and a few weeks later signed on the dotted line.
Writing about houses and gardens, I talk to people every day who say that’s exactly how they feel about their home. They saw it and they knew. It was a simple as that.
This week, we get to appreciate the view that Ingrid Peterson and John Gilbert wake up to every morning.
Peterson and Gilbert opened the door to a condominium a little more than a year ago and walked straight into an urban lifestyle. Their love affair with what they call their treehouse is our cover story.
With information on how to protect your garden from the first frost of the season and answers to your gardening questions, we embrace the outdoors, as well.
For many of us, home, the place that shelters us and the place we pour so much of our hearts into, isn’t just real estate.
It’s real love.
