May gets winner for CCS

Lauren May scored the game-winning goal in the 84th minute and also had an assist as Community Colleges of Spokane (5-2, 5-1) beat Columbia Basin College (4-2-1, 4-2-1) 2-1 in a women’s NWAACC soccer game at Spokane Falls CC on Wednesday.

Ashley Imas added a goal and also assisted on May’s winning goal.

Sasquatch goalkeeper Amy Danielson did not make a save.

Men’s soccer

Keith Kirsch and Ryan Matern each scored a goal for CCS (7-2, 5-1) as the Sasquatch defeated Columbia Basin (3-4-2, 2-3-2) 2-0 at SFCC.

Kirsch scored off a Jay Vela assist in the first half. Matern added his goal late in the second half on a penalty kick.

Hawk Mummey made four saves in the shutout for the Sasquatch.

College volleyball

Ashlee Lupfer had 22 kills and 10 digs to lead CCS (8-9, 1-2) to a 3-1 win over Blue Mountain Community College (8-6, 1-2) in NWAACC play at SFCC.

Brandy Sonderland and Cassie Duncan each added 13 kills for CCS, and Miranda Gouin had 36 assists.
