Grading the Cougars

The Spokesman-Review

Quarterbacks: B+

Brink didn’t have to star, but he made most throws and managed the game well.

Running backs: B

Lots of running room against Stanford, although fumbles are a concern.

Wide receivers: B

Bumpus made a couple of key third-down receptions.

Offensive line: A-

Did exactly what was needed against a poor Stanford front seven.

Defensive line: A

Bruce’s five sacks and Graise’s touchdown were the standout Cougars highlights.

Linebackers: B+

Nothing spectacular like the linemen, but solid for four quarters.

Defensive backs: B+

Never allowed the Cardinal a big play that could have shifted momentum.

Special teams: B-

Blocked punt is good, but a missed extra point is troubling.
