Teen sentenced for ‘05 rape
KALISPELL, Mont. – A teenager who authorities said lit the match that destroyed the Lakeside Marina and 30 boats in 1995 was sentenced Friday to seven years in prison for raping a 14-year-old girl in 2005.
District Judge Stewart Stadler said his decision to sentence Michael Kullberg, 18, to prison was based on two sex-offender evaluations. One found a 100 percent probability that Kullberg would commit another violent sexual crime within 10 years.
Kullberg was 6 when he and a teenager started the $1 million fire that destroyed the marina and boats docked there.
In June 2005, he and the 14-year-old girl were on a walk when he pushed her to the ground and raped her.
Kullberg won’t be eligible for parole until he completes sex-offender treatment at the prison.
