A Columbian Coffee Story – A representative from Cosurca, a fair-trade cooperative of Columbian farmers, will speak on efforts of farmers to grow fair-trade organic coffee instead of cocaine, 7 p.m. at Whitworth College’s Weyerhaeuser Hall, 302 W. Hawthorne Road. (509) 777-4269.

Engineers Forum of Spokane – Wildlife Mitigation Biologist Gerald Green will speak on the restoration of native habitats for fish and wildlife along Hangman Creek near Desmet, Idaho, noon at the Holiday Inn Airport, 1616 Windsor Drive. Lunch is $13. (509) 244-3467.

Swimming team tryouts – The Spokane Area Swimming Team is looking for new members ages 6-16, 5-5:30 p.m. today and next Monday at the Shadle Park Pool, 4327 N. Ash. Swimmers must be able to complete 25 yards of freestyle and backstroke. (509) 326-7546.
