Indians baseball hiring for summer

The Spokesman-Review

Baseball lovers, take note: The Spokane Indians baseball club is hiring for a number of jobs at the ballpark this summer.

Part-time game-night positions are open for enthusiastic people to serve food, work security and hawk merchandise in the stands. Technical positions also are available in the press box, including a matrix-board operator and music-system operator.

Students, teachers, retirees and anyone else interested in summer employment can bring a resume to the Indians’ annual job fair from 10 a.m. to noon April 14 at the stadium at the Spokane County Fair and Expo Center.

Council OKs street projects

The Spokane City Council finalized three neighborhood street improvement projects Monday.

The paving projects are being financed through the city’s local improvement district program.

The approval finalizes the cost to property owners along the newly paved streets.

The projects include:

•Napa Street between 13th and 14th avenues. Owners of 22 parcels will split $50,104 for the paving after about $58,000 was subtracted from the cost with money from federal grants and the street bond program approved by voters in 2004.

•An alley between Olympic Avenue and Wabash Avenue from Lidgerwood Street to Addison Street. Owners of 24 parcels will split $44,462.

•An alley between North and Sanson avenues between Cincinnati and Nevada streets. Owners of 27 parcels will split $53,554.
